Item RB1 - Philo L. Fox (Bridgeport, CT) Patent
Bevel.
This
interesting square with attached sliding bevel arm was the invention of Philo L.
Fox and patented on Oct. 2, 1888 (so marked on blade). It was manufactured by
the Hill Bevel Co. of Manchester, CT. A rare bevel in any condition, this one
suffers some scattered pitting on the blade, and a couple of breaks in the
casting rim at the bottom of the handle. There is a little extraneous green
paint in the finishes of the handle and bevel that will come right off. It is a
desirable addition to any bevel collection. Good
