Item P21 - Sargent No. 81 Side Rabbet Plane.

Similar to the side rabbet planes produced in England by Preston and Record, this Sargent example is not often seen.  Sargent made this in the period between 1913 and 1943.  Its two “crisscrossed” cutters are in the same plane near the front of the tool.  It is really two side rabbets in one, and much more desirable than Stanley No. 98/99 pair.  This one has all of its original nickel plating, a good original mahogany knob, long proper cutters, and no detractions.  It is easily the best one that I’ve seen.  Fine
