This large compass, with 30 inch legs is great looking, and is useful for laying out circular and oval table tops, as well as making larger repeating measurements. The tool in not marked with a maker or owner, but is very well made. The stained hardwood legs are chamfered through much of their lengths and have a tight fitting triple joint with brass washers at the top the thumb screw is iron. The steel points are square in cross section and topped by ornate brass ferrules. The compass with scribe a circle 48 inches diameter, and transfer measurements up to the same length. This is a little chipping at the bottom of the legs at the ferrules. The thumb screw at the joint provides a very secure setting. Good+
