A
later Underhill shingling hatchet, this one is marked (Boston) and “Reg. U.S
Pat. Off” and has a 5 pointed star, under which is marked “Trade Mark.” The
hammer has a good edge (2 1/4” long) that has been protected and kept oiled by a
shaped tin “keeper.” The head is 6 inches long and is backed by a deep waffle
non-slip face. The handle is fat, probably original, but has some nail “wedges”
added.
