very distinctive strapped upholsterer's tack hammer, but I can't locate a maker
for this. The main feature is a tack pulling claw that was cast on the side of
the peen end of the head—not on the end or the middle of the head. This old
hammer has been well used, but the handle is probably original. The bell shaped
poll seems to have had some grinder repair. The top of the head in its center
has hand filed decoration. The hammer has a head with a total length of 5
inches, 3 ½ inch straps, and a total length with handle of 13 inches. Easily
good, it is one for a hammer collection.
