Not a
tool that you see too often these days, this draw knife style router was used to
rout straight or curved grooves in the bodies of fancy coaches and sleighs.
This one is hand forged, and has a wingspan of about 15 inches. The ¾” bit has
some room for vertical adjustment. The blade holding back is gently curved down
to each side, allowing plenty of room under it to adjust one or two fences
applied to the work piece. The back is hand forged and was japanned. There is
no maker’s mark. The handles appear to be of rosewood, and are therefore
fancier than usual. The handles have hand forged iron ring ferrules. Good+
