Item D2 - Stanley No. 62 Reversible Spoke Shave.
Made only between 1877 and 1923, this scarce spoke shave has two
blades, facing each other. The idea is to facilitate working on wood that has
frequent grain reversals. This example has unmarked blades, but they look
appropriate, and original to the tool This one is an early type, having Traut &
Richards 1876 patent date on the underside of the handle. The shave is clean,
with much of its original japanning, particularly on the underside of the
handle. There is no rust or pitting. This is a nice example of an uncommon
spoke shave. Easily Good+
