William Tucker
William
Tucker, of Blackstone, Massachusetts, was granted a fairly early brace patent
(March 22, 1959, No. 23,326) for a brace chuck with a method of securing the
notched tang of a brace bit by means of a threaded shaft that terminates in a
rotating lip that fits the notch just below the bedding hollow in the chuck.
This brace rates a Pearson "B" for rarity, but this is the first that I've seen.
The brace is Marked, "Wm Tucker. Patd March 22, 1959".
Presumably Tucker manufactured his own braces.
